Life in the digital transformation
Maybe you don’t gamble, but imagine you’re in a major Las Vegas casino feeding some dollars into a slot machine. The reels are spinning. They begin to stop one at a time:
Your adrenaline kicks up…
Then suddenly, every slot machine in the place goes dark. The bleeps and rings are replaced by groans and some scattered disbelieving laughter. And then, the murmur of conversation as patrons begin to talk about the odd and frustrating situation they’re in. You hear some raised voices that match your anger as some, like you, were in the middle of a payout.
And, of course, out come the mobiles. Within minutes, their experience becomes the world’s experience.
And if you think you’re out some money that should be coming your way, imagine you’re the owner of that casino. Thousands of dollars coming in per second just turns off like a faucet due to technical issues.
Vegas is the place to be this week
Enough with this gloomy analogy. You’re probably not in the gaming industry, and also one corner of Las Vegas is going to be all about flawless performance and happy customers with today’s kick off of AppSphere™ 2016, which will run through November 17th.
This story does illustrate how high the stakes can be for your business when relying on technology to deliver superior, profitable customer experiences. But unpredictability is part of life in the digital transformation. Thankfully, application performance management technology is bringing us closer and closer to zero downtime.
High performance isn’t enough
As things evolve, customer satisfaction on digital channels has become much more complex than safeguarding from slowdowns and outages, and ramping up speeds and feeds. In these days of high expectations and stiffer competition, that’s just not enough to come out on top.
That’s why the companies winning on the digital landscape are utilizing the power of application performance monitoring, to look deep into their customers’ experiences with their applications, and then connecting the dots between those experiences and business outcomes.
After all, casino floors aren’t filled with old, metal one-armed bandits—but rather immersive digital experiences, networked and monitored to track performance, even though on a practical level, the old and the new serve the exact same purpose.
That’s why we’re all here in Vegas
The need to keep up with high customer expectations is exactly why nearly 2,000 attendees are flying from all over the world into McCarran to join us at AppSphere. And we couldn’t be happier to have them, because AppSphere is for them. It’s all about our customers, and their customers.
Our third AppSphere will bring together the forward thinking enterprise community to help companies do what this year’s theme implies: Redefine Performance.
Attendees of the the four-day conference will have the opportunity to take in keynotes from industry thought-leaders, including AppDynamics President and CEO, David Wadhwani, and over 70 sessions, product deep dives, and participate in hands-on labs.
Among the our special guests will be AppDynamics’ customers from digital-first companies, including Accenture, AT&T, United Airlines, and World Bank — some of which will be sharing their stories on stage. Also on hand will be many of AppDynamics’ partners, including Amazon Web Services, Capgemini, Microsoft, ServiceNow and Rackspace.
“Our customers are in the midst of some of the industry’s most exciting digital transformations,” said Wadhwani. “And we help enable them to operate as digital-first companies by giving them more visibility into their application performances and business outcomes. With AppDynamics, IT leaders can transform their technology mandates into opportunities to become business partners and growth drivers.”
If you’re among the attendees, we look forward to seeing you there.
